The Principal Product Planning Specialist will provide leadership and global strategic direction for new market development, physician relations and product pre-commercialization strategies for key ongoing strategic program within the Peripheral Vascular division. This role will be primarily responsible for leading the cross-functional team in developing market entry strategies and tactics that will drive market leadership and protect against competition within a market identified as a key growth driver within the peripheral business. This role will also have primary responsibility for identifying and developing strategies to access new potential therapies and revenue streams related to the peripheral market. This will be achieved by identifying target opportunities, critical success factors and key barriers to adoption. Robust analysis will be used to enable the development, implementation and management of initiatives that support market entry of targeted therapies and drive Medtronic growth. This role will also have responsibility for developing pipeline communication strategies to drive global physician engagement. This position will work with Medtronic CV BU, regional and local teams to develop global evidence strategies and go to market strategies focused on leveraging the relationships held by CV business units with key physician specialties. This position will also require also have key responsibility for developing relationships with key opinion leading physicians both in the US and Internationally. These efforts are critical to success and require the individual to assume an overall leadership position amongst internal functions as well as to develop credibility with key clinicians. This individual will have overall responsibility for influencing and gaining agreement on the strategic approach (product pipeline, evidence strategies, market development, etc.) and implementation for a defined key strategic program. This individual will also have responsibility for dentifying and driving alignment in order to access new growth drivers. The Sr. Global Marketing Manager will communicate these recommendations by presenting to the Product Strategy Board (PSB) and Program Review Committee (PRC) - leading the discussion and gaining alignment from senior management. As the product planning lead, a key responsibility will be to achieve successful implementation of projects via effective utilization of the Product Development Process (PDP), where appropriate. In this capacity, the individual will help define the project scope and gain cross-functional alignment to make sure that these business-critical programs reach the market efficiently. This will include leading cross functional teams in the successful development of significant program milestones that are required to support the strategic plan and creating and implementing “process/procedure/team” training/tools, metrics and communication. This leadership role will be responsible for ensuring team commitments (scope, project contract, & budget) are met and communicated in a timely manner.

Strategic Planning • Develop / update global strategic plan with respect to project that is key to overall peripheral strategy. • Complete ongoing market analysis related to PAA, market research, competitive intelligence and health care market trends relevant to targeted therapies. • Develop reimbursement analysis and strategies to ensure success of program. • Ensure that global evidence strategy is developed to meet physician needs and drive leadership of related portfolio. • Develop and drive business analytics focusing on fact-based, intelligent, and timely decision-making to accelerate the achievement of revenue and growth goals. • Provide senior management with updates, reports and presentations to support portfolio. New Therapy Opportunities • Lead business in identifying and analyzing new therapy and revenue stream opportunities. • Develop strategies and drive alignment to access new therapies and revenue streams to Senior Management. • Work with Business Development and R&D Management to execute on identified opportunities. Pipeline Communication • Develop global strategy for communicating business strategy and development programs to key physicians • Act as key responsible to educated key US KOLs on development pipeline PDP Core Team Member • Contribute as a key member of PDP cross functional teams that will have a significant impact on the long-term success of the Coronary & Peripheral Vascular business. • Use leadership skills to ensure that cross functional resources are assigned and held accountable for task and outcome completion. • Ensure that products are launched on time and meet established goals and objectives (per project contract) that support the financial and competitive goals of the organization. • Manage projects within portfolio and makes commitments to meet specific business goals and objectives. • Contribute to the management and tracking of overall project budget with components that include human resources, prototypes, suppliers, and general expenses to meet established return on investments per project. • Provide the communication link between the project team and the Coronary PSB & PRC. • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective team dynamics and mutual accountability are paramount. • Provide feedback to functional department heads during AOP/strategic planning process.

Minimum Education & Experience: BS (MBA preferred); 5-8 years related experience, including broad multi-functional business experience along with at least 2+ years project and people management experience. At least 3 yrs in health care marketing, sales, consulting strategy, and/or business development. A tremendous work ethic and strong desire to bring Medtronic Coronary/Peripheral Vascular to a market leader position is the #1 requirement. It is essential that the individual is comfortable dealing with ambiguous situations and independently driving projects through completion. Because of the high level of responsibility and expectations associated with this key leadership position, past experience in health care marketing, strategy, consulting or business development is critical. A clear understanding of medical device markets, specifically interventional vascular markets, is strongly desirable. Technical • Strong analytical, planning, organization and time management skills to effectively execute project plans and budgets. • Project management skills; knowledge of process and project planning best practices • Ability to manage project budgets within guidelines • Experience in financial modeling including the ability to perform sensitivity analyses and critically interpret the results (experience with Monte Carlo methods preferred) • Strong understanding of market research techniques and ability to draw conclusions from the data Conceptual • Experience working in product development / commercialization, including clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of cross- functional project teams and functional management • Business acumen; ability to think from an overall “best for the business” perspective • Analytical ability to identify and think through all issues in order to determine their impacts on the business • Demonstrated capability to independently direct projects and manage multiple responsibilities while simultaneously maintaining a clear focus on objectives and financial performance expectations Interpersonal • Strong demonstrated leadership—of projects, teams, and direct reports • Customer focused in all interactions.   • Ability to travel up to 33% of the time, including significant international travel

    Greater than 5 years’ significant experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotech or health care strategy, pipeline marketing, BD, and/or consulting preferred; prior experience with Emerging Technologies/Therapies a plus.
