Under general direction, ensures proactive and effective program management of the North American Network Integration Solutions (NIS) Project Development Engineers (PDE) by cultivating team work, best practice development and sharing, tool creation and Learning & Development to support a world class pre-sales engineering program. Creates an environment that is process oriented, yet flexible and creative to support new sales opportunities, which will lead to continued sales growth. Active member of a centralized team that will augment the support of the Regional PDE Teams on high profile/strategic sales opportunities. Works with the Alliance management to develop and rollout new 3 rd party solution offerings, tools and processes for the field team. Builds and tracks individual Learning & Development plans for the Project Development Engineers. Collaborates with the Region NIS management, Alliance management and Operations management on pre sales engineering needs, programs and processes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
  1. Acts as the Subject Matter Expert for Regional NIS Teams.
  2. Augments the support of Regional project development teams on high profile/strategic sales opportunities that require additional resources to perform the following functions when requested by the Region.
  3. Partners with the Regional team to assist in scope of work and supporting documentation, to include conceptual solution options, diagrams, workflow, business case, etc. to support a compelling winning solution.
  4. Assists with site surveys and walk-through of customer facilities/networks to further assist sales and engineering efforts. Meets and interacts with customer IT staff for the purpose of gathering information for sales and engineering efforts.
  5. Assists with proposal activities, such as Request for Proposal/Information (RFP), (RFI), renewals and re-bids by providing edits and reviews of written solution plans and requirements.
  6. Assists Regional NIS Teams with proposed solution designs reviews.
  7. Partners with the Regional Teams on portions of the presentation to the C-level or economic client as needed by presenting the scope of work and functional demonstrations for all NIS solutions.
  8. Establishes NIS PDEs metrics and ongoing measurements, by publishing a monthly scorecard and working with the team on gap closures.
  9. Develops, implements and manages Best Practice Sharing sessions via regularly scheduled meetings.
  10. Develops 3 rd Party NIS Solution Offering field rollout programs, processes and pre-sales engineering tool sets.
  11. Identifies training gaps and implement regularly scheduled Web based Training programs to foster continues learning.
  12. Develops and maintains relationships with key 3 rd Party NIS Solutions providers' Technical pre-sales liaison to assure our field needs are met and new tools and offering our effectively evaluated and rollout as necessary.
  13. Partners with the Regional PDEs to conduct needs assessment of pre-sales engineering requirements, critical areas, needs and budgets.
  14. Develops North America NIS PDEs through training, coaching and mentoring. Participates with the NIS RSM in performance reviews and goal setting for PDEs
  15. Develops training for regional personnel on NIS estimating tool sets. Updates region estimating team on current processes, tools and material pricing.
  16. Provides feedback on NIS Offering solution gaps/needs to Alliance management.
  17. Works as a liaison with the Regional NIS Sales Manager and the Operations Program Manager to ensure the latest sales engineering best practices are incorporated within the sales process.
  18. Performs project site assistance and troubleshooting for networks, integration and application related issues pertaining to NIS Solutions as requested by the Region.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent experience. MBA highly desirable.
  • Minimum of ten years experience in Sales Engineering and/or Program Management in the areas of LAN/WAN architecture, wireless, integration, IT & Communication applications.
  • Minimum of a Cisco CCDA Certification (or equivalent Certification from another tier 1 provider) with a specialization in one of the following areas: Network Security, Switching & Routing, Network Foundation & Unified Communication or Wireless.
  • Also, the individual will have earned; one of the following industry Professional level Certifications in either Networking, Security, Voice, Integration or Design. Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer interface skills, problem solving, and the ability to be a highly effective team member is required. CCIE certification desireable.
